This exquisite pair of ceramic lidded pots is a superb example of mid-century French ceramic artistry by renowned potter Robert Picault. Crafted in Vallauris, France circa 1950, each pot features Picault’s signature palette of emerald green and earthy brown glazes over a creamy white base, meticulously hand-decorated with geometric motifs.
The graphic design of each piece showcases Picault’s distinct visual language: criss-crossed grids, spirals, and linear accents in turquoise-green oxide are paired with brown sgraffito swirls and intricate borders, all applied with remarkable precision. The pots’ symmetrical, rounded forms are enhanced by elegant twin handles and domed lids topped with flared knobs—both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Measuring approximately [insert dimensions if known], these vessels were likely intended for table service or storage, but today they are treasured as collectible decorative objects. Their sculptural presence and timeless appeal make them ideal centerpieces for a dining setting, kitchen shelf, or ceramic art collection.
Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition, showcasing the artisanal qualities and subtle variations typical of handmade work. An emblematic creation from the golden era of Vallauris pottery, this set captures the harmonious blend of form, function, and visual rhythm that defines Robert Picault’s legacy.
